New content
August 2025 – I am very pleased to report that Geoff Pullin has provided two new articles, recounting his experiences as an engineer at Ribble and United Counties. Thank you, Geoff.
The Old Bus Photos website – or OBP as it came to be known – first appeared in 2009 and was a very active and popular site for over 10 years, covering bus, tram and trolleybus photos from the sixties and before with a great deal of informed comment on the photos and other related topics.
However at the end of October 2022, updates to the site stopped and emails to the owner, Peter, went unanswered. The site then remained frozen until May 2024 when the domain name registration expired and the OBP web site became no longer available.
The “Wayback Machine”, maintained by archive.org, that systematically scans and preserves websites for posterity, does have a number of archives of the site – the latest one can be viewed here although it is only partial.
Peter had also created a sister site to OBP, “Old Bus Tickets” – but development of this site was paused in 2018. There are copies of “OBT” on the “Wayback Machine” – for example, here – but please note that other copies, dated 2019, show a completely different site that had adopted the same URL.
We thank Peter for his work in creating and maintaining OBP over many years. I have created a copy of the site ( obp.nwframpton.com ) containing as much of the original content as I could retrieve, but this is a “snapshot”, and the full functionality of the original site is not available.
This new site provides the facility for new content and discussions, but please bear with me, as it will take some time before all of the original content is restored.
As of July 2025, I have added some 1050 pages to the site, but please note that internal links to other pages on the site will, for the time being, take you to the corresponding pages on the interim version of OBP ( obp.nwframpton.com ). I will need to update these links once I have added all of the existing pages to this new site.
